Nursing School…

Did you know yesterday was National Nurses Day? It is hard to believe one year ago today I was pinned at the University of Mobile. I felt like I would never finish nursing school. There were many sleepless nights studying and doing clinical paperwork. I am so happy that stayed with it though many times I wanted to quit. More than once wondered why couldn’t I have chosen an easier major and enjoyed my last 2 years at college not secluded in my room with a book. Looking back I am proud of what I have accomplished, it was worth the hard work. It was a long 2 years but it shaped my life in many ways. I miss the friends I made in nursing school and I hope they are all doing well. I am thankful for nursing school not just for the education I gained but the growth I had during it. Honestly if I had to do it again, looking back a year later, I would.

Progress…

You didn’t think I would just leave you with that one terrible picture of all the boxes in our office/craft room did you? We have really made some progress in that room as you can see by the pictures below. Granted there are still few boxes left to unpack but they are simple out of the way on the back wall or in the room’s huge walk in closet.

(Our progress at least in this room)

(The office side of our room)
I had to get a little order somewhere it was driving me nuts. There is honestly nothing worse than coming home from a long day at work to a messy home. Does anybody else feel that way? It is not a relaxing environment just a sour reminder of all thing things you have to do while you are not at work. However, even though it drives us nuts why is it that it take a boatload of motivation for us to tackle these tasks? I am I the only one out here who feels this way?? It seems like even though I hate the current condition of our home I am so tired on my days off I don’t want to work at unpacking and cleaning the house too. I am just being honest here. So as the post is rightfully labeled we are making progress but we still have a ways to go. The good thing is I can use my blog as accountability, (thanks to the nester for this idea) to show you the progress we are making in turning our apartment in to a warm inviting relaxing home. It may take awhile with my scattered work schedule but it will be done. I will say this craft side of our extra room has been my escape.

(Our old kitchen table became my sewing table)
I have found such a joy in teaching myself how to sew. I would love to show you some pictures of my completed projects but they are gifts and have not been received yet so when they are I will display them on here. My new sewing project is a valance and pillow covers for our living room. I have changed our living room colors to from red, tans, and brown to brown, tans, and a pretty robins egg blue. I love red, do not get me wrong, but we have a lot of red in our house. Our bedroom and master bath are filled with red. I just wanted to brighten up the living room and wanted something a little different. It was time for a change my last 2 years at college and in our old apartment red has been the overwhelming accent color in my living room areas, so I welcome the change to blue.

(Do you like it?)
Well, I am off to make some small progress in our kitchen so I can whip up some broccoli casserole for community group tonight. Have a great night y’all!

Unpacking…

Hey Y’all, we finally have internet in our new place so I am back. I must say I have missed blogging. We are trying to settle in meaning we are still in the unpacking process.( The picture is of our office/craft room the day we moved in thankfully it no longer looks like that). To me unpacking is worse than packing and with both of us working full time there is still a lot to be done! I love our apartment though it has so much more space. I am still trying to get back in the swing of things from when we went out of town to Georgia. The day after we got back in town we moved and then we both went back to work. Needless to say it has been a little hectic. However, I finally feel like this week, life is starting to normalize again. I hope you guys are having a GREAT week so far!

Moving on Up…

Sorry for the lack of posts. We had a great vacation and got back in town late Sunday night after a day of traveling and visiting with friends in Canton. Monday we signed the lease on our new apartment. It is so much bigger than the tiny one bedroom we were in. We thankfully hired movers so Tuesday they came and moved us in 4 hours. Now I just have to unpack it all when I am not at work. I would love upload more pictures but I have packed my camera cord somewhere and I have not found it yet. I did get meet some of our neighbors tonight and they seemed very nice. Bob and I are both exhausted from moving and getting back to work this week. I am just ready to get settled in to our new home. I am so tired of seeing boxes everywhere I turn. We don’t have our internet hooked up in our new apartment yet so I am not sure when I will get to post again. I will try to post soon with pictures, especially from our Georgia trip. Hope everyone has had a great week.

Headed South…

We are going home to the peach state. Notice I said we. Usually I am the only one able to get off work and go home but for the first time since we have been married and moved to North Carolina, WE are going home. It has been almost 6 months since I have seen my family and 10 months since Bob has seen his. This trip is long overdue. This actually the first time I will make this drive since last time when I got the blood clot, so my nerves have kicked in a bit but there will be lots of stops. This is also Izzy’s first road trip ,we are so excited about taking her with us to meet our families, I am excited she will get to socialize with my parent’s poodles. This trip is jam packed with things to do including Jamey and Jamie’s Wedding Saturday. We are leaving this afternoon when Bob get out of class and coming back Sunday. I am so excited about this trip! Please pray for traveling mercies for us. ALSO check back here for a book review later this week and a giveaway!! Well I have to go finishing up packing and make sure Maggie (our beloved GPS) is in the car.

Drained…

Today was HORRIBLE!!!! I could really use a chocolate bunny now (but we are not eating our feelings around here). I am physically, and emotionally, drained. To put it plainly, I AM EXHAUSTED! I felt like all day I could not keep up, it was miserable! I am so glad I have tomorrow off, but then I will back in the ER Saturday. Ugh, the only thing about being off work tomorrow is that apartment is not packing it self and there is so much more to be done around here before we move! I think that cat picture sums it up! Ok enough blogging my bed is calling me!
